February 14, 2023 – TOKYO – Preferred Networks (PFN) today released a trailer for Omega Crafter, the open world survival craft game currently in development and slated to launch worldwide in the winter of 2023 on Steam. Steam users can now view the trailer and wishlist Omega Crafter on its Steam page.

Omega Crafter puts the player in the role of a game developer whose game is under attack by an unknown program that is causing havoc to its development. The player dives into the game’s vast multi-biome universe to discover and eliminate monsters sent by the malicious program, build in-game assets, and put the game development back on track. Omega Crafter is characterized by programmable helper bots called Grammi with which the player can automate the tasks needed to progress through the game.

In Omega Crafter, players can use easy, block-based visual programming to automate a variety of tasks performed by Grammi on behalf of the player, such as farming, material collection, item crafting and town building. The more the player automates their tasks using Grammi, the more efficient the game progression becomes. Omega Crafter features a visual programming editor that is similar to that of PFN’s coding education app Playgram™, supplemented by a special tool that gives clues and tips to assist players with limited or no programming experience. The title will also have a multi-player mode that allows players to assign specific roles to each party member.

Developed by a small team, Omega Crafter incorporates educational elements of Playgram while giving players an immersive experience of a full-fledged survival craft game. Many terrains and objects in the open world have been developed using automatic generative algorithms, giving varied gaming experiences to different players.

PFN plans to conduct an alpha test of Omega Crafter in the spring of 2023 and then launch it in the winter of 2023 on Steam. Through Omega Crafter, PFN intends to establish a form of entertainment that allows players to learn how programming works while genuinely enjoying the game, thereby inspiring them to materialize their ideas with computers.
